Busy-ness

Hello out there TV Land!

These past several weeks have been brutally busy for me, and thus, no vocal work has begun on the new Mystic demo.  However, I hope to begin writing sometime tomorrow.  It’s on my list of goals, along with finishing up the final touches on my dissertation and turning it into the graduate school.  Can’t wait for *that* to be over.  Then it’s on to fun stuff like vocal writing!  I’ll keep you posted on my progress.  I just hope I can think of some vocals epic enough to compliment the awesomely epic Mystic.  Yeeeeeeeah.

Until we meet again,

Dr. Vocalist.  MUahahahahahahaha!

Word to the wise…

When chopping or dicing vegetables with a sharp knife, be sure not to allow your thumb to jump in between the blade and the cutting board.  I had that experience just last night, and it wasn’t a pleasant one.  Another word of advice, superglue works wonders for a deep slice wound.  Little known fact: Superglue was originally designed to close up wounds during the Vietnam War.  Now, I’m not saying over-the-counter superglue should take the place of a doctor’s visit, but if you don’t have $800 to spend on the emergency room, it can be a nice substitute.  My knife slice doesn’t even hurt that much anymore because the superglue has 1) formed a nice, little protective barrier from outside substances and 2) stabilized the cut so that it doesn’t move.  Awesome.

Yours truly,

Gimp Thumb (or Donna if you prefer)

Keepin’ it real.

Oh, yes.  Practice on the older Order of Tyr songs began yesterday, and it. was. rough.  I thought perhaps I could just sing those same lines as Mike, but alas, no.  I can sing them as they are, but they definitely don’t hit my optimal range.  A full octave up…  Whew, definitely pushin’ it.  So there may be a little rearrangement going on.  Sorry to all you hardcore fans out there who were hoping to hear the original lines.  I’m going to try to keep it as close as possible, but some of it is definitely going to have to be modified.

In other news, I’m excited about the 2 new songs in the works.  Haven’t heard them yet, but I’ll be waiting with bated breath and pen in hand to write up some super sweet melodic melodies and kick ass epic lyrics.

Until we meet again,

Donna

Why… Hello.

Ahhh, a fresh new post, hot off the computer screen.

I will start by expressing my extreme excitement over the new music Order of Tyr is cranking out recently. The video game influence has become something near and dear to my heart. Who knew video games had such incredible music? If you’re anything like me, you haven’t played much in the last several years. ::sigh:: Yes, my video game days were over long ago. In fact, the last game I remember playing was Sonic and Knuckles. To give you an idea, the release date on that was in 1994… Perhaps one day in the distant future I will once again pick up a game controller and fight off evil through the likes of Sonic and Mario. For now, I plan to concentrate on putting out kick ass vocals that do justice to the epicness that is… video game metal.

Your Melodic Mistress,

Donna
